Okay, one more HWA post for this weekend:

I'm calling on HWA to reopen for election candidates in ALL categories for this year. That would be for President, three Trustee positions, and Secretary.

It's reopened to President & Trustees, but not Secretary. We need choices in all categories.

Speaking as someone who’s a bit closer to seeing the direct impacts of the MAGA murder of USAID than some, I just don’t have a ton of patience for people who want to condemn USAID for what it was and who also don’t have opinions or solutions on dealing with the hideous fallout of its destruction.

beyond the bigotry i find this to be a completely bizarre worldview. what do you mean that the actual material forces of history are immaterial to your ideas of national development? are you fucking stupid? (the answer is yes)
the context is this confnas fucker talking about how africa being poor & europe wealthy means whites must be innately more intelligent

(& dismissing any notion that the legacy of the atlantic slave trade, or global racial empire, might have a role as "mystical injustice")

The local chapter of my HWA seems rad and I hate that the organization as a whole is overshadowing their good work. But honestly, I'm not gonna give any money to an organization that has a virulently islamophobic, misogynistic failed Trump judicial nominee fielding complaints about sexual harassment

Know what I’m sick of? The idea that trauma must be processed and learned from as absolutely necessary to an emotionally satisfying narrative, the idea that characters must always grow and change in order to be interesting, that fucking sucks and I don’t like it

I'm very upset and disappointed to learn that Patrick Barb is not *just* running for HWA president, but he's running unopposed. The *only* professional horror writer's organization needs to be led by someone who understands and respects the power they hold.

Patrick Barb is running unopposed and there has been no response to the statement from Theo.
HWA members and staff: demand better.
To my friend Theo: thank you for coming forward.
To Patrick: power is a thing to not be toyed with. You should know better.
Hi. Everything I want to say it at the following link, which contains why I think Patrick Barb should not be HWA President. I'm going to step away from socials for a few hours now, and will see you all later. 🫀

CW: sexual misconduct.
