The right thinks they like harsh grading and grading on a curve because the white guys all assume they'd be on top of it. I think if they fully understood that women consistently outperform men GPA-wise, they'd take it back.
this week I spoke to a family member and realized that the very good U of M decision to hide first-semester grades is already getting turned into a dumb culture war thing.
this is an incredibly good decision that makes sense pedagogically. it gives them permission to learn when habits are forming.
