B.C. Premier David Eby nails it:
“I feel sorry for Americans. If you can’t be friends with Canada, then you almost certainly do not have a friend anywhere in the world — and that is a very lonely place to be.”

Hillbilly Excellency.
God forbid his kids take an armored SUV to their golf lessons instead of a military helicopter. Operating the helicopter costs taxpayers between $16,000 and $24,600 per hour!

It was prescient, tragically 😢
CDC is no longer surveilling outbreaks caused by campylobacter, cyclospora, listeria, shigella, vibrio and Yersinia. What could go wrong?
The CDC quietly scaled back a surveillance program for foodborne illnesses.
As of July 1, a critical surveillance program is monitoring for only two pathogens instead of the usual eight.

Ukrainians just held their 14th Annual Book Arsenal, in Kyiv. The historian Marci Shore attended. She says: Why have a book festival in the middle of a war? Why have a war in the middle of a book festival?
Here’s the Book Arsenal poster from 2022. Slava Ukraini!

Many of you are asking how you can help me. My only ask is this: Spread the word about the threats to democracy and how we can fight back.

Tell everyone to subscribe to Democracy Docket for free and share its content with everyone you know. Thanks. bit.ly/4qmEiFz

This is an actual post. This is not funny. This is beyond desperate. This is a deeply unwell man who doesn’t belong anywhere near the levers of power. Every member of his cabinet and Congress is complicit in not demanding his removal now.

Predicting that this week we’ll hear more conciliatory words from the Administration regarding Minnesota (since they’re starting to realize that ICE has become politically toxic) but everyone outside of Minnesota needs to know that nothing on the ground has changed.

The US government is summarily executing people on a weekly basis without telling the American people any of their names or presenting any proof of their guilt, for alleged crimes that do not carry the death penalty in the US.

Read the whole story. The death of Sarah Beckstrom is even more heartbreaking—and even more the fault of irresponsible actions of Trump administration than we even dreamed. 💔

Home Depot could implement a policy requiring ICE to present a judicial warrant before operating on its property. Businesses are fully within their rights to decide who is allowed on their premises.

Trump on Intel boss: "He walked in wanting to keep his job and he ended up giving us $10 billion for the United States. We do a lot of deals like that. I'll do more of them."

Below are the 30 U.S. cities with at least 100,000 residents that had the highest number of crimes against people, per 100,000, according to the latest FBI data report.

Goodness, Washington, D.C., forgot to be included!

JD Vance & Jim Jordon's Ohio makes a stellar showing. Heck of a job on crime!

Why is Trump asking for grand jury testimony?

1. Because he knows it’s unlikely to be released and then he can blame the judge

2. Because that testimony is restricted to charges against Epstein and Maxwell and is unlikely to name clients

3. Because it generates delay and confusion.

Los Angeles is a diverse community, roughly 50% white. We live together in harmony. We survived the January fires stronger than ever in spirit. Many more lives would have been lost if it weren’t for our excellent early-warning system and a population that pays attention to evacuation orders.

Pure evil.
If the GOP reconciliation bill passes, ICE gets through FY2029:

- $45 billion for detention, on top of the current annual budget of $3.4 billion
- $14.4 billion for transportation and removal, on top of the current annual budget of $750 million
- $8 billion for hiring/retention
- Billions more.
