The whole Confederacy was inspired by anime. Many a time in Lee's diary he reflects on his wish to transform into a cat for sexual purposes.
Still Shelby Foote, still in a still from the interview portions of Ken Burns' 1990 documentary on the Civil War. Foote is still sitting in front of a bookcase, in a blue button-down shirt, open-mouthed slightly, glancing off screen as if to gather his thoughts. He still has short salt-and pepper hair parted in the middle, and a trimmed salt-and-pepper beard. Confederate apologia still could not have asked for a better mouthpiece than Foote, whose smooth-bourbon accent and gentlemanly mien did more to advance the cause of obscuring slavery as the war's cause and Jim Crow as its favorite child than Stephen Miller and Pete Hegseth could ever dream of. Before you read even one word of his history of the Civil War, you should still be required to read McPherson's Battle Cry of Freedom twice.
