If like me you're a regular #Eurostar traveller, you may have noticed that for the past year or so, the #GareDuNord now makes you take out ALL of your electronics. At a time where the airports have been massively investing in new machines to avoid taking anything out, this seems backwards to me...

This NYT article on brain rot was great, but am I missing something about the "anti-gratification" theory? Surely watching brain rot is still playing the platforms' game, either because you spend more time on them, or because you are still exposed to ads, even if you do not gain info/education?

This NYT article on brain rot was great, but am I missing something about the "anti-gratification" theory? Surely watching brain rot is still playing the platforms' game, either because you spend more time on them, or because you are still exposed to ads, even if you do not gain info/education?
The UK has one of the highest electricity to gas price ratios among advanced economies... this surely cannot help break our dependence on gas or our fight against climate change. Much of this gap is driven by policy choices. A government serious about cost of living should thus revert this urgently.

Session on the media at #PolicyLive: love the point that @joshih.bsky.social made. We now receive primarily national / global news rather than in the past when it was more local, and that may make us feel helpless because we have no agency over this. To fix this: get more balanced news coverage... 🤔

Love the #PolicyLive talk on loneliness in a polarised world. My take-away: we need to build communities and re-learn to listen to each other w/ local infrastructures that unite us around shared interests (sports, gardening?). My take-away: we need to build communities and re-learn to listen to each other w/ local infrastructures that unite us around shared interests (sports, gardening?).
