The rush to speculate that asylum seekers are responsible for every crime in the news is a sort of opportunistic informational terrorism. Until it’s disproved it stokes fear and hatred. When it is disproved there are no adverse consequences and they know that they only have to be lucky once.

Incredible: another Ukrainian famine is unfolding, this time in Russian-occupied Oleshky. The remaining inhabitants of what used to be a thriving small city, now down to about 6000 people, are blockaded by Russian forces and cut off from food and water.

South Tyneside Council has just decided to close 10 state-owned nurseries next yr, incl some that do excellent work for SEND children. This came as a shock to parents, guardians, staff.

Not once does this #BBC report mention that the Council has been under #ReformUK majority control since 2026.

Just 4 months after the local elections, Reform UK (RefUK) have lost 158 of their local councillors:

-55 resigned
-42 went Independent
-28 defected
-24 were kicked out
