The news is always "This absolute fool was dismantled in hearings today. He is manifestly unqualified for the position and would be an existential danger if confirmed. Disaster. He is set to be confirmed immediately." When you ask why everyone is furious and exhausted all the time, this is why.

RESPECT

Every politician should be doing this.

Mayor Coffman has spent every Friday night since February sleeping at Aurora, Colorado’s homeless center, serving breakfast in the morning, and learning firsthand what works and what doesn’t.

My quote of the day

We have also arranged things so that almost no one understands science and technology. This is a prescription for disaster. We might get away with it for a while, but sooner or later this combustible mixture of ignorance and power is going to blow up in our faces.

BREAKING:

Harry Dunn and Daniel Hodges, two law enforcement officers who clashed with Jan. 6 insurrectionists, have sued to block the Trump 'slush fund'.

They're asking a federal judge to find the creation of the fund illegal and reverse any transfers that Treasury has made to DOJ to implement it.
Former Capitol Police Officer Harry Dunn files suit to block Trump’s ‘slush fund’
The existence of the new lawsuit is a reminder that the “slush fund” controversy is unfolding on multiple fronts.

It's not hyperbole in the least to say Musk purchased a six-month shadow presidency for $280 million and used the power of that shadow presidency to 1. Steal the government’s data, 2. Permanently damage the state’s ability to regulate his businesses, and 3, kill non-white people.
Still feel like "Musk and his crew of incels destroyed a bunch of stuff they didn't understand and thereby hastened the deaths of millions of children" did not get the public attention it warranted.

I'd really like to see leadership calling for impeachment and removal, regardless of whether they have the votes to get it done. Same way we called for marriage equality before we had the votes. A leader's job is to lead. If a genocidal threat isn't impeachable, then nothing is.

Everything we need to do to stop climate breakdown, we also need to do for national security. Energy saving, more renewables, more electricity storage and interconnectors, electrification of transport, heating, cooking and industrial processes, plant-based diets. We win on all fronts.

We've spent $19 BILLION in TWO WEEKS. For a technology that's already dying. If we spent that much on solar & wind, we could reduce our energy dependency by 12.5% in a year.

We could be pollution-free and have electricity at a quarter of current prices in eight years.

Instead we have war.
Rep. Mike Flood: "Listen, we are in a conflict with Iran right now. There's going to be temporary pain. And it is painful. I don't want to discount that at all. But this will end and we will have energy independence."

Those darn woke women and their dastardly peacemaking
As one high ranking official quoted another former high ranking official who, when asked why there aren’t women at negotiating tables, said: “Women? They’ll go to the enemy, make peace and the wars will end!”

That describes it pretty well.

"We started a war of aggression for no reason & commenced it by accidentally bombing an elementary school & killing over 100 kids."

That simple fact is so horrific that it's just kind of bouncing on the surface of our collective consciousness. We can't absorb its full implications & significance.
