Tortas Frontera made O'Hare tolerable. Also, if you have a long layover and want a place to chill, I recommend the yoga room. There are even mats you can sanitize and lie down on.

I'm particularly interested to hear your thoughts about how the term horizontal transfer is used in the marine symbiosis world, where it's closer to how environmental acquisition is defined in this paper. Is my word choice offensive to marine people?

I'd love to hear your thoughts! And if you're interested in joining me in figuring out how to put numbers on the axes, let me know. I'd be happy to work together with people on this!

The main points: 1. I think we should be consistent in the terminology we use across fields. 2. all aspects of symbiosis are context-dependent, to varying degrees. 3. I think it would be great to be able to compare symbioses with one standardized metric, but that will still take time to figure out.

I felt like an old timey scientist getting to talk about ideas at conferences and seminars, whenever I presented this work. Generally, it was well received. And yet, I had to build up a lot of courage to be able to finally put the ideas to paper. Thank you to those who pushed me to write this.

In the acknowledgements, I thank "the many scientists with whom I’ve had countless conversations that have helped to shape my thinking". I really mean this. It's been really fun to talk about the cube and to have wonderful conversations with folks. So if you were one of those people, thank you!
