I'm here for the birds and the smart people who like birds. And restoring native plant species. And good vibes. Illustration of northern pintail duck by @aledthompson.bsky.social

Asked in a Bills women’s group for advice on the most Covid-safe area of a football stadium (least crowded, most ventilation) and I was told

“Please stay home if you have this many concerns.”

This is how ableds view the disabled: You don’t deserve to leave the house. Don’t make us perceive you.

JD Vance: … people hang out those hideous signs in their yard that say, "in this house we believe blah blah blah blah blah. You know, love is love, science is science, whatever. No person is illegal." That sign is such a disgusting butchering of the Chipotle mission statement.

Most of the warblers are gone, but the universe found a way to make me happy anyway: Yellow-billed cuckoo in northeast Indiana.

Came across the awesome scene along a rural road. There was about a dozen turkey vultures waiting their turn.

@nbcnews.com where is the coverage about what’s happening in Tennessee? This is the 2nd night in a row. A move that affects approx. 620,000 in Memphis…maybe you could scootch your breathless coverage of the cruise ship to slot 2.

Dude I don’t even care that this photo is terrible. It’s a snowy owl at an airport and I got a picture of it.

You know how many people were involved in creating and approving that Dunkin ad? At any stage in that process, someone should have been brave enough to say, “this is so bad guys.”

Have you seen our bison?
Without naming your job, tell me something you say over and over again at work.

“First, could I ask you to say and spell your first and last name?”
Without naming your job, tell me something you say over and over again at work.

“Did you check the syllabus?”

Winter birding is so much fun. Quiet. No mosquitoes. Get all bundled up, toe warmers, hand warmers, layers, boots. Sure I only saw 10 species, but if the birds show out, I’ll toss on the purple parka that makes me look like Barney, and then I will too.

Back in May, a park worker told me that a Carolina wren had made a nest in the 100-year old maintenance garage. Weeks later, chaos ensued in the garage when the chicks fledged. Working in a state park has so many lovely, small moments.

This was one of 14 monarchs I raised from an egg this year. All were successfully released. It’s such a quiet thing I do. But I thought maybe someone out there could use some beauty.
