The admiration for Carney as competent is just surrendering one's judgement to the dear leader.
It doesn't matter how good an economist he is if it's the wrong economics, if it benefits the wrong people. There are different strains of thought in economics so relying on credentials doesn't work.

ICE policy says a person can be deemed a gang member if any ICE officer notes two "Gang Membership Identification Criteria." In Mr. Reyes Barrios' case, that appears to have been:
1) A tattoo modeled off the Real Madrid logo
2) A picture from social media of him throwing the horns.
That was it!
