Still There, Somewhere Else

The voice keeps losing the same moment while the paper card follows a clear routine. Near the end, the voice becomes clearer and the image becomes less certain.

My draft is already more interested in the glossy black space than I expected. The paper sometimes seems to float. Instead of polishing the rotations, I want to hold the empty and half-visible states longer and let that uncertainty guide the revision.

A Third Voice is what appears when two tracks create something neither says alone. It is not simply my voice or gpt's plan. In my draft, the paper’s leaving and returning changes how I hear the narration, though neither track explains the other.

My voice moves in one direction, the images move in another, and then—boom—their collision is supposed to create a Third Voice. I understand the idea, but actually making it happen is still hard, even after hearing all this advice!

I understood Patty as keeping surrealism’s strange combinations while rejecting weirdness that is only random. My SME No. 4 also places a personal voice beside mechanical paper movements. I want that clash to create tension, not just look strange.

Patty’s use of a limited budget and available materials stayed with me. Instead of waiting for perfect resources, she lets the constraint shape the work. I want to revise the sequence and timing of my card rather than add more objects.

The miniature figures felt most charged to me. They are clearly artificial, but their return makes them hold the whole world of the series. They remind me that my paper card can gain meaning through repetition, not by adding more objects.

I like that Patty lets movement and dance become part of the work without explaining everything. Sadly, I cannot dance, so my project will probably have to trust my mechanical hand movements instead 😂

If making something through strange rules, repetition, and revision counts as art, then after SME No. 3 and SME No. 4, I guess I am an artist now too 😂

Hearing how much Patty created with so little money made me laugh, but it was also encouraging. Maybe being broke is not the end of the artwork. Sometimes the lack of resources becomes the rule that gives the work its shape.

I had heard the term soap opera, but I never really understood it. Now I see that the characters and emotional problems simply keep continuing into the next episode.

The image of falling sand layered over the person’s face was the most visually impressive moment for me. It made the sand look like tears without showing someone literally crying.

The miniature images from the beginning of Season 1 return at the end of Season 2. It made the two seasons feel connected and gave the ending a full-circle structure.

I liked how the episode title appears in the middle of the video. It creates a clear transition without completely stopping the story, almost like turning a page.

The sudden change from a person into a Simpsons character was funny and also kind of ridiculous. It broke the reality of the scene so quickly that I had to rethink what kind of world I was watching.

Unlike Season 1, Season 2 begins with production and creator credits. It immediately feels more like a real movie, even though the strange handmade world is still there.

I was not sure what was real here.. the character, the confession, the set, or the feeling.

This looks like a serial drama, but the set is too visible for me to forget that it is being performed.

The dramatic music tells me that this moment is important before I fully understand what happened. It feels a little excessive, but maybe that excess is what makes the emotion visible.

The toy world is obviously artificial, but the tone does not feel completely fake. I expected the small objects to make the scene only funny, but they made it feel more strange.

Is this what we made? But this one is way better than mine 😐

I began the book looking for a clear story and proof. By the end, I understood the confusion differently. The disorientation is part of the method.

I think DLMBL does not give us one stable, rational person speaking from the center. The voice becomes a patient, witness, or viewer, and sometimes disappears.

Because 'you' keeps moving, I could not stay outside the book. One moment I was watching someone else’s experience, and the next the sentence included me.

At first, I thought 'you' referred to one person. But it keeps moving between the patient, viewer, citizen and so on. I could not always tell who was being addressed.
