What a fucking insane situation. A libertarian loon and genocide supporter speaking to EU finances ministers because he's got money.

You sometimes see Government TDs pointing out that Ireland isn’t unique in the world in having a housing crisis.

But this graph in today’s Financial Times shows just how extreme ours is compared to the places elsewhere, which also describe themselves as a in a housing crisis.

Ireland is a huge outlier: This is more than three times the data centre consumption share of the Netherlands (7%), which is the second highest share in Europe (average 3%).

The Irish men’s team *need* to just not play the Israel game. To boycott is not just morally right, but such a fucking winner long-term from a PR perspective when it’s against a football establishment of such crooked bastards. Nobody will mind whatever the “punishment” is.
🚨 Exclusive: The White House made a direct call to FIFA to ask Gianni Infantino to review Folarin Balogun’s red card.

FIFA approached for comment and referred to the findings of its independent committee.

A ban also stops the Government from having to actually legislate on what social media companies are doing to stop harmful content being produced and shared. Just put a blindfold on your child, never mind that adults can still see all this harmful garbage day and night.
The Children's Commissioner wants the social media ban extended to 18. Even though people will be able to vote at 16. The Beatles first went to Hamburg when George Harrison was 17. You can also decide to take on £50k of tuition fee debt at 17.

The reluctance among media outlets to specify that these pogroms are the work of far-right loyalist thugs is particularly weird, given that they sign their work! The LVF spray tags on the houses of the people they burn out, whether Catholics, migrants or refugees. They've done this for decades!

It is worth briefly pointing out that none of these undeclared society-shaping policy choices was ever brought to light or surfaced by the political correspondent class.

Their job is to describe the official narratives, not to look outside the window and compare those narratives to reality.

This is a tenement. Go up to Mountjoy Sq or around Blessington St and look up into the windows of the old georgian houses. Bunk beds everywhere. @dubcitycouncil.bsky.social have let this type of thing go on for years. They better go after this guy for a flagrant breach of the planning permission

Remember when they wouldn't pass the Occupied Territories Bill because it would violate EU rules? Was Israel violating international law and committing a genocide an insufficiently "acute" situation? #Spéirgorm
Simon Harris acknowledges that Ireland's new excise level on diesel will be 10c below the minimum level required by the EU - but it's being pursued anyway based on the "acuity" of the situation.

So, in not so many words, Ireland is asking for forgiveness rather than permission

we're on our second energy crisis in 4 years

oil and gas dependence is not only an environmental and economic danger, it's clearly a strategic one too

but our governments and the EU have still been letting the dirtbags profiting from the crisis to keep calling the shots
