We we're very happy to accept the Bloomfield Township NJ Wear Orange proclamation tonight --- for the ninth year --- to honor victims and survivors of gun violence. Our sincere thanks to Mayor Jenny Mundell and the Town Council for their continuing support of gun violence prevention.

Secure your firearms
Nearly 27,000 — that’s how many people die by gun suicide every year.

Access to a gun makes it three times more likely that someone will die by gun suicide. By enacting policy changes like secure storage laws and extreme risk protection orders, we can prevent a moment of crisis from turning fatal.

Text SMART to 64433 to become a volunteer to spread the message of secure storage.
The letter M in #BeSMART stands for modeling responsible behavior around guns. Parents and caregivers who have guns in their homes or vehicles should speak with their children about what to do if they encounter a gun, but these conversations are a precaution only and come with no guarantees.

Democrats need to run ads with this clip in every congressional district with a sizable military community.
Q: The family members of US service members are concerned about the conditions on the USS Lincoln

TRUMP: No they're not

Q: Has the deployment gone on too long?

TRUMP: No no no. Not nearly long enough.

The federal assault weapons ban that President Bill Clinton signed into law expired 22 years ago. Assault weapons have been used in most of the deadliest mass shootings in the country.

The best time to reinstate a federal assault weapons ban was when it first expired. The second best time is now.

One of the worst possible outcomes of leaving a gun unsecured is the serious injury or death of someone you love. But there are other serious consequences to unsecured guns, like a teen using your firearm to carry out a school shooting, or a gun being stolen from your vehicle and used in a crime.

For most of us, seeing the Klan 2.0, a.k.a. Patriot Front, march through Washington, D.C., unchallenged by authorities overshadowed any celebration of America’s 250th anniversary.

My ancestors lived through this. And no one today can say with a straight face that racism is behind us.

Thomas Paine is my favorite founding father. He was famously abolitionist and one of the earliest voices to point out the hypocrisy of fighting for independence while keeping slaves. He also firmly believed that keeping any friendship which required compromising your morals made you a bad person.
The founder we should talk more about is Thomas Paine, who will fuck your shit up every time. Here he is in The Rights of Man just ripping into any ideas of "originalism" and that kind of garbage.

Machine guns are illegal for a reason. But right now, people are getting around the law and turning handguns into machine guns simply by attaching a small device, known as a switch. That’s unacceptable.

Gerrymandering can be difficult to understand, but this graphic helps illustrate how it can be used to pervert the intentions of voters. Say Team Blue wins 60%. Depending on who’s drawing the map, that could mean winning all 5 seats or winning only 2 of 5.
