I always thought you were a super cool dude! Still do! When I first visited your Chapel Hill Comics and saw how you presented graphic novels I thought “wow I gotta step things up!” Also your bookcase still lives on in our All Ages area :)

Absolute Superman 24 was a ray of brightness in the challenging Absolute DCU. A real sense of Superman getting it together and handling situations, now with help. Usually when our Absolute heroes catch anything resembling a win, they get evened out pretty hard and pay a hefty price. So we'll see...

Awesome turn out for the Midnight release of the Marvel Midnight titles! Everyone picked up each series, but Spider-man’s variants went the fastest! Anyone who said they would read them tonight I wished them luck sleeping. Most also said “see you tomorrow!” Thanks for joining us!

The "I wonder if that"ll be part of this series" moment that M.A.S.K. fans have wondered about is upon us in issue 5! If you know, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. And if you don't know, you'll still have a good item with it.

Midnight X-men was quite intriguing. A simple surface subject, but immediately complex in implications. There's more going on than Vampires, Vampires who are also Mutants, & Humans in the middle, but that is hook enough. So many places this can go past & present. Ribic-esque art seals the deal!

Midnight Spider-man just might be too much for me. Despite loving Spider-man, I'm not a fan of actual spiders. This one does a LOT with actual spiders. Scientronc has a heavy manga stamp which places this in the manga horror lane which is likely intentional. Too effective for me, perfect for others!

Midnight Fantastic Four. Wildly different set up & characterizations, but the "what is the Fantastic Four story" molecules are here. Walker is vastly underrated. I think this is what the whole Midnight project has to be. How long can this specific presentation run? I'm not certain, but hooks are in.

I’m thrilled that so many people came out to Acme Comics bright and early for Amazing Spiderman 1000 and will soon read this outstanding issue. Can’t wait to hear feedback on it!

Shift is in the Three Worlds/Three Moons line like Foundations. It serves as a prequel, or you can let this be your first intro. I knew this would be in a class by itself so I read it last. Quite the visual spectacle from Del Mundo, but Hickman's engaging characterization is what locks you in.

Superman Kingdom of Zod Special is the event finale and also offers other conclusions and other new beginning for Superman, Superman Unlimited, Action Comics, & Supergirl. This one has a very effective recap if you wanted to just jump in here as it adds a new layer into the Krypton mythos.

Queen in Black #5 puts a nice bow on years of storytelling while leaving the door open for more someday. Venom 262, the final issue, wraps up the MJ era with Venom Unchained 3 setting up the new era of Venom. These issues all support one another, but if you have it Amazing Venom is read last.

Fantastic Four First Foes Dragon Man was as classic as it gets. If you want to see movie Fantastic Four doing Lee/ Kirby things, this one shot is for you. @gregpak.com really captured the vibe & Mark Buckingham's art sealed the deal. So much fun!

Alien Vs X-men will deliver the goods readers would want to see in this specific of a crossover story because @kierongillen.bsky.social knows what those moments are. Things are hard enough with The Brood, with actual Aliens its going to be bleak. And there is a Brood back up by Claremont!

Amazing Spider-man 1000's shorts are top notch! Maybe the best milestone issue I've read. You've got @brianmbendis.bsky.social & Stuart Immonen, @danslott.bsky.social & Marcos Martin, both A-game knockout stories! Noah Hawley will do more for sure. Even WWE's HHH has a story! Buy with confidence!

On the heels of what was an incredible Batman Day, today was an unprecedented Local Comic Shop Day. Thanks to everyone who came out, brought friends, and really showed a love for comics and for Acme Comics!

At this point when I read involuntarily Scarecrow in Absolute Batman I do hear Walton Goggins specifically as Uncle Baby Billy and that makes the character even more frightening for me. That's just me though.

A key element of Void Rivals, for me, is knowing what Skuxxoid's voice sounds like from the Transformers cartoon. If you don't, you're not penalized, but if you do, it changes how every line lands.

Terminal continues to pick up. Just the right amount of action, mystery and giving the right amount of hints to keep you plugged in. This series checks a lot of boxes for things that are not currently on the shelves and new people are coming to it often. Maybe you?

The new Star Trek is the first set in the post-Picard era so if you completed that you're in great shape. Seven of Nine commands the Enterprise-G with a very surprising crew and is tasked with a very dangerous mission. This is serious @ifyoucantwell.bsky.social business! Fans buy with confidence!

Absolute Flash 19 is the worst off I've seen Wally as he is at the mercy of a superior opponent in Hunter Zolomon who pretty much has none. I've been saying for 19 months that Flash is the science of the Absolute DCU series & I think big revelations are coming to characters & readers. Get in on it!

The Accessories may have the most disturbed and disturbing version of Renfield I've seen. This is a series focusing first on Igor, now Renfield, then next up is Mrs Hyde. Terribly interesting concept from David Dastmalchian, Leah Kirkpatrick, Patrick Piazzalunga, & team.

The buildup in That Texas Blood: Hell Comes to Allison Ranch is so skillful. I was told to read That Texas Blood by a customer but never did (I did read Enfield Gang Massacre though) so this is new to me & can be new to you too. Its @christophcondon.bsky.social & Jacob Phillips from Ezra Cain!

Let's keep the energy going with New Titans 39! Static is in the field with the still new team, but its going to be a learning curve with their dynamics, traveling the world, and being an active hero again. It'll be fun watching this come together as, I hope, a team configuration to remember.

I had Avengers Armageddon 4 spoiled, but I had to see some sort of context. I've never seen a turn of event like this. Ever. There isn't a build up or logical way to arrive at this conclusion, but that's comics sometimes. There will be a rush for these & other recent comics. Not sure what this means
