Apparatus of the dreaded Deep State. Went from Republican to independent to Democrat to some kind of Socialist (not yours) between 2012 and 2022, but always, ALWAYS hated a fascist.
A significant dynamic in this country is: MAGA has disdain for Libs. They sneer at them and claim superiority to varying degrees based on the race/class of the Lib in question.

Libs don't have disdain for MAGA. They hate them and want them to die or at least be excluded forever from public life.
some idiot pundit: wow, libs hate him this much but they don't want him to die, this must be a sign they're interested in healing

I want him to suffer

"They have killed him, the Forgiver—
The Avenger takes his place,
The Avenger wisely stern,
Who in righteousness shall do
What the heavens call him to
And the parricides remand;
For they killed him in his kindness,
In their madness and their blindness,
And his blood is on their hand...
“Carl Ruby, a Springfield pastor, said he was struggling to make sense of Bel’s untimely death. ‘I know that I’m a pastor and I’m supposed to be forgiving,’ he said. ‘But right now as I sit with a broken family, I’m crying out to God for righteous judgment in those who made this happen.’”
“A Haitian immigrant who had grown increasingly distraught after losing his protection from deportation and being outfitted with an ankle monitor was run over and killed Monday in what his family believes was a suicide.”

It's true that everyone has been more or less wishcasting an economic crisis since at least "Liberation Day," and so far it hasn't materialized. And these 338 tariffs probably won't cause one. But it's one more spinning plate in what is, by now, a forest of spinning plates. Eventually one is going

Will is partially right about the inputs here, but sentiment is ultimately a function of *expectations* of those inputs and how well they match reality. Usually they line up pretty well, but COVID broke the link.

People came out of lockdowns in 2021 expecting an economy that looked more or less
Starting VERY abruptly in 2021, however, this no longer worked!

Suddenly you needed a model like this:

Sentiment=inflation+wages+unemployment+(VIBES, MAYBE?)

It was as if a new term got welded into the model. This isn’t supposed to happen!

The other day I got into an argument with my conservative father in law about vacation destinations, and it ended like this:

"Oh, so you won't go to Florida because of its 'policies,' but you'll go to Louisiana?"
"No, man, I'll go to *New Orleans.* Not the same thing."
New Orleans should be an independent city state. Just my two cents.

If these are indeed the 10 points, it's dead on arrival no matter what Trump supposedly agrees to. They involve the Israelis and Saudis agreeing, too, when they have no real incentive to do so - indeed, continuing the war is pretty much all to their benefit. That's before we even deal with the fact

I don't think you can have these headlines right next to each other.

Congratulations to Paul Ehrlich for finally doing something about the "overpopulation" problem he spent his life ranting about, specifically by dying.

Rarely has a scientist been so thoroughly discredited and yet somehow remained influential.

It's important to have contingency plans for When It Happens.

I have identified the nearest liquor store to my office and critical Metro stops, so if I'm at work or commuting there will be <25 minutes between Hearing the Good News and driving straight from a bottle of champagne in public.

There is no hell hot enough.
1/ ProPublica collected handwritten letters in mid-January from children held at the Dilley Immigration Processing Center, the same facility where 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos was taken.

Hundreds of kids are still detained.

We’ll let the children’s words speak for themselves. 🧵

this has flown under the radar, but we are doing third-country detention in a country with a worse human rights record than North Korea
And here’s an Omni jet landing in Equatorial Guinea yesterday. This is very likely a third-country removal to a torture prison, the second in a week and the third there overall.

Marco Rubio paid off their dictator using humanitarian funds.

It's clear that Hegseth is trying to emulate the speech from "Patton," which is funny because Patton would have challenged him to a duel months ago (and then shot him).

And George C. Scott didn't even show up to get his Oscar, no way he'd put up with getting summoned to this bullshit

The president said that “people that live in the inner city” won’t do the work.

“We’ve tried, Everybody’s tried. They don’t do it. [Migrants] do it naturally. Naturally,” Trump said.

it doesn't matter if the CR was bad or anywhere near good; as long as lawlessnes reigns supreme in Washington you don't vote for a single GOP bill or a single GOP nominee, why is this so fuckin' hard to understand

@raskin.house.gov Elon Musk tweeted today that USAID funded the creation of covid-19 and called it a "pit of vipers" that "needs to die." That kind of rhetoric can get USAID employees killed. Trump is doing awful damage but Musk needs to be stopped. Would love to see more from you on this.
