BLOOD DRAW I - 2024 - traditional art; oil on canvas

(Piece currently on display and sale in West Sussex, UK as part of Darkfest Worthing 2024’s dark and surreal art showcase)
Photo of an oil painting depicting a long, coiled wormlike creature with a lupine head at each end against a dark red background. The thing’s flesh is pale and blotchy, and at points is pulled and stretched beyond the borders of the canvas by some invisible force. Each head is force-fed opposite ends of the same tube which is clogged with red fluid. The paint has been applied thickly to give an uncomfortable, uneven texture to everything. The shapes and colours are reminiscent of viscera, nerves, clotted blood, and tumour tissue.
