Curious, concerned, lover of nature, Earthship dweller. I wanna leave this place better than I found it. Proud 1st gen Canadian. Peace.
Honestly, it's incredibly heat breaking because it's so completely unnecessary. Just greed and power-trips all the way down.

It captures the utter hopelessness of such an existence.

It's a gruesome read. Incredibly tragic. Infuriating.

Plus health care is tied to a job so you can't even quit or complain if working conditions are abysmal. It's a cruel and abusive system. And it's designed to exert control and keep people too tired and desperate to fight back. All in the richest country in the world.

You describe "Wage Slavery." 💔 Have you read The Grapes of Wrath? It's where I learned about it and the evils of the company store. Today is the same, just the corporations, and the stores, are bigger.

This happened to my brother and it's left him bitter, alone and probably miserable, although he'd never admit it. It's actually really sad and such a negative way to live your life.

I personally consider the F150 gender affirming care.

that's a wilful misinterpretation of the absolute hussle he's been putting into getting our Country out of a corner. His ideas, words and actions give me hope. Let's not fuck this up. 2/2

It's just great to see an American talking to americans in an honest, intelligent way through the lens of what we're trying to do up here. 🙏 2/2

Thanks for this from a Canadian who's watching Carney build the domino chain one infrastructure domino piece at a time, across the country to the ports. He's got massive support up here but the trolls and critics are working hard to undermine and sow doubt. 1/

Reisefieber - a mix of nervous anxiety and anticipation before travel

Same. I've run it for over a year now on my Google Pixel 8, 🤮, which is a garbage phone btw, and today I installed MapQuest. I may be stuck with this phone but somehow rejecting Google on a Google device makes it all the sweeter.

I guess this gives us certainty of another kind.

Isn't there also an element of now we know the hand they want to/are willing to play? Which can be extremely helpful as it reveals more of their goals and how they plan to achieve them. The writing on the wall so to speak. Now we know where we stand.

I guess I've been a climate doomer since I studied climate change in the 90s. We built an Earthship to hopefully smoothen the ride to wherever the heck this is all going.

I believe the US draconian terms of employment that minimize paid time off for holidays, family care, parental leave, etc) and a minimal social safety net, were explicitly designed to keep people stressed and focussed on immediate survival. Less time and energy to respond to abuse from overlords.

Yeah I did a double take on her supportive comment too

So not visiting anytime soon!

I would agree with you on this. Tariff relief at this point is the buying of time for more diversification away from the US. Interpreting this negotiation as a plan for deeper integration with the US is, in my opinion, a deliberately negative assessment.
