Working on tools and processes for better building retrofit, mostly in houses, mostly for coops and community energy orgs. Keen on the need to #stopburningstuff.
Yup, and she says it with the appropriate level of piss-taking - which I'm assuming won't be the take if Mrs Bennett says it!

Meanwhile Evan Davis wasn't allowed to carry on making a podcast about home heating systems - that he didn't get paid for and was just about sharing information on heat pumps - because it was seen as too political.

It was definitely a thing where I grew in the far north west in the 80s - with apple bobbing and carving turnip lanterns (did 'penny for the lantern' more than 'penny for the guy') and dressing up.

But lots of Irish immigration to that area over most of the last two centuries, so maybe due to that?

Not all private sector too - there are a at least a couple of credit unions taking part.

These are cooperatives who are constitutionally required to act in the interest of their members (savers and borrowers), and are I think 'asset locked', so no carpet bagging possible.

So when we talk about the high capital costs of heat pumps, we’re forgetting about the capital costs of gas hidden in our bills, paid off over many decades?

Whether a vented gap was also needed between the roof membrane/sheathing and the insulation (so below as well as above the waterproof layer) would depend on the materials used*.

Yeah, guidance on retrofit roof insulation in the UK would certainly recommend a membrane or sheathing and a vented gap between the roof tiles and the insulation - I would be very worried about soggy insulation. But then I live and work in a bit of the world where the rain often comes sideways.

I think the one over his right shoulder might be making a not very complementary hand gesture?

Ah yes, cause that would have been the Rendezvous on Oxford Street that got turned into a 'spoons.

I loved the Ritz as a kid - in my memory its a grand red and gold place. But the Rendezvous was the cinema of my teenage years.
