The SCOTUS ruling today prevents the USPS from not delivering ballots based on directives from the Trump admin. BUT, the late postmarks issue remains. To make sure your ballot gets counted, return it early and, even better if you can, drop it off in an official ballot dropbox to ensure it’s on time.
Important: the USPS rule that SCOTUS blocked tonight was Trump’s big plan to control and restrict mail voting.

But a separate policy remains in place: USPS is no longer postmarking mail as soon it gets it, which is hugely important for deadlines.

So people must mail back with plenty of time.
In an Intense Election Year, New Post Office Rules Could Trip Up Voter Registration - Bolts
A change in how mail is postmarked could lead some voters to miss key deadlines, including voter registration. Advocates worry the people most affected will be those already facing voting barriers.

Democrats still have not learned to answer this question properly:

1) There are basically zero trans athletes. This is a red herring to distract from Trump's failures & the Epstein files. Out of 500,000 NCAA athletes, fewer than 10 were trans.

2) Private organizations can set their own standards.

A Labor Day reminder: having a job is no longer enough to protect millions of Americans from homelessness.

For many workers, the greatest threat isn't losing their job. It's that their job will never pay enough, never provide enough hours, never offer enough stability to keep them housed.

Fun fact — and reminder: For all their focus on “officer safety” and arguments about aggressive tactics being necessary, no ICE officer has ever been killed in the line of duty.

It is more deadly in the US to be an elementary school student than an ICE officer.
New: ICE plans to spend millions of dollars on Boston Dynamics dog robots. ICE says this is to improve "officer safety." The robots can open doors, pick up objects, have 360 cameras, infrared vision, etc. Boston Dynamics didn't respond to question on its stance on ICE www.404media.co/ice-plans-to...

I appreciate @hcrichardson.bsky.social for highlighting this issue, but this figure & history is not quite right.

After the earthquake in 2010, the Obama admin granted TPS, then as the recovery stumbled amid cholera outbreaks, granted it again in 2011. Roughly 50,000 people got TPS then.

I got emotional all over again watching that clip from 2023. We say we want fighters. This is what a fighter looks like.

Someone willing to speak up for people, confront power, and say what needs to be said when others won’t.

This is bravery.

The rise in rulings on the “shadow docket” has been driven, at least in part, by Trump’s losses in lower courts.

“The patterns show a court going out of its way to enable Trump,” one scholar said. “That’s the real blow to the court’s credibility.”

ProPublica conducted a new analysis that shows the court is deciding more consequential rulings than ever before in largely unsigned orders with little to no explanation.

This is a good point. The oligarchs, who if anything had it pretty easy under democracy, have thrown us to the fascist wolves. And they had another option. Let's remember that when reconstruction time arrives.
Elon Musk and the ultrawealthy far-right vanguard started all this.

Reflect on that.

The giga—now tera—rich have not been attacked or even taxed disproportionately. They've benefitted from liberal democracy more than anyone else.

They have chosen a path of destruction and domination anyway.
Elon Musk's incitement of pogroms in Belfast reveals he'll use his immense wealth and influence to foment untold fascist violence in the future. Only a global movement can break his power.
