This is not really a defense but this has been a problem since the beginning of Gmail, not really a new AI thing. For whatever reason, if they can't use the original semantic web /pagerank search they made their money on, their search algorithms in their tools are absolute dogshit.
Oh I fuckin hate it out here. Yesterday I had to search Gmail for the quotation-enclosed string “code of conduct” and Gmail showed me every email that contains the word “of”
