In 2022, MD amended MD Business Regulation Code to require lodging establishments (like hotels, motels, & inns) to train employees to identify the signs of human trafficking. Almost 4 years later, records show nearly 90% have not, leaving survivors unprotected. Learn more: https://loom.ly/mvRNBLM

Women’s Equality Day reminds us that gender equality cannot exist while violence against women continues. In Maryland, 57.2% of women have experienced sxl or intimate partner violence during their lifetime. (1/3 🧵)

When working w college students, it’s important to note the difference between mandated reporters of SA & those who provide confidential support to survivors. Professors, coaches & admin. employees may be mandatory reporters & have to share any type of sxl misconduct w the campus Title IX office 🧵

More than 1 in 8 college students exp. sxl violence in their time on campus. The majority of college sxl assaults happen in the fall semester; a time known as the Red Zone. Going #BackToSchool might mean going on dates w someone you just met. It’s important to respect the boundaries of your date. Pressuring someone to do something intimate that they're not ready for is sxl coercion. Listen to your partner, discuss your boundaries, & practice enthusiastic consent!

Title IX prohibits sex-based discrimination in schools & educational programs that get federal funding. It incl. protecting & supporting students who faced campus sxl assault & harassment

As kids get ready to go #BackToSchool, there’s 1 important lesson that shouldn't be skipped: body safety. Young kids are particularly vulnerable to sxl abuse & part of keeping them safe means giving them the tools to know if something unsafe is happening.

1 way to protect you & your child’s privacy is to avoid sharing locations on social media. When posting photos, turn off location options that pin each pic. This is key for places you frequent like home or school- locations & routines shouldn't be accessible to anyone who can see your social media.
