This film was so good at portraying a nervous breakdown (and OCD) that I had panic attacks for two days after I saw it. Won’t watch again but highly recommend - super well done.

The shootings at the site I linked began in 1918 but peaked later.
It’s an odd example to single out as the symbol of Bolshevik terror, but it’s technically correct. Yet the real problem here is the call to extinguish the intelligentsia again, right?!?

The NKVD did sometimes shoot people in urban “garages,” which had lots of space to park cars and trucks - they would run the truck engines all night to cover the gunshot sounds. There’s a place right near Lubyanka where this happened, but it wasn’t the most common type of location.
