Something I noticed fooling around with SMAS. POW blocks in Subcon look normal at first, but when you pick them up the O is misaligned for one frame. Even stranger, the misalignment persists upon returning to the level proper.

So in the original Metroid the Screw Attack cycles palettes when active. At first I paused on the blue one and thought it was a neat coincidence. Then I saw the second one and wasn't as sure anymore--

The whole "circle and peg" style some storytime videosfolk go with makes me imagine them as chess pieces.
"Storytime" video makers JaidenAnimations, Let Me Explain Studios, and Doodle Noggin, done up like white chess pawns. SmokeeBee is behind them done up more like a black rook. It didn't occur to me until I was almost done this might mean the other three are in trouble considering SB is on the black team and the rest of them are facing away which could imply they can't counterattack.
