There's a part in the book "Careless People" where the author beats Zuck at Settlers of Catan, and he is absolutely wrecked by it. Someone pulls her aside to explain everyone else has been letting him win for years. I think about this a lot re: why tech bros think everyone will love AI chatbots.
People who spiral out overusing LLM chatbots are really just experiencing the kind of brain-damaging stream of unconditional validation that’s always been the norm for the hyper-wealthy, which explains a lot.
Worse than Twitter, private discussions (text, email, whatever) among like-minded wealthy lunatics who are all surrounded by yes-men who talk like ChatGPT in maximum ass-kissing mode.

Amazing to me that people keep screaming about security failures in a situation where security did not fail. Bad things didn't even happen to bad people, so you can stop pretending to be worried about that. Stop whining for a bigger, badder police state.

My hottest “I have no data to back this up” take is that phones aren’t making young people less happy. What’s making them less happy is living in a world where everyone is having their reality defined by recommendation algorithms that can only care about whether something keeps you watching.

THREAD: Cherise Doyley was in her 12th hour of contractions at the hospital when a tablet was brought to her bedside.

On the screen was a Zoom call with a judge and several lawyers and doctors.

She was in court, a nurse told her. The reason? For failing to agree to a C-section.

In this one, the corruption & capitulation of the Ellison family is the selling point," @notaaroncraig.bsky.social says about Paramount's takeover of Warner Bros, which would give the Trump-friendly Ellisons control of both CBS & CNN.
Paramount Skydance’s Takeover of Warner Bros. Is Bad News for Workers, Consumers and Free Expression
The idea that Paramount should be allowed to control CBS and CNN should be unthinkable, especially given its track record of turning the Tiffany Network into a trash heap.

As a direct result of the obscene actions of Russell Vought and Elon Musk in destroying USAID, we can expect “at least 9.4 million additional deaths by 2030, if the current funding trend continues.

About 2.5 million of those deaths are projected to be children under the age of 5.”
