During an Ofsted inspection in at his primary school January John Hayes, an experienced headteacher of 19 years, broke down in tears in front of inspectors.

At another point, when asked how he was, he told inspectors he was 'terrified'.

Hayes said inspectors didn't seem to know how to react.
