Man weird if only the lawmakers knew someone whose job it was to carry out oversight and make certain the laws were faithfully executed according to the wishes of the legislature!?
New: Trump’s abrupt announcement to send $90 payments to seniors by dipping into a Medicare fund has rattled Capitol Hill.

One GOP aide told WaPo that lawmakers had planned to use the money to offset funding for community health centers, diabetes programs and other initiatives.

AI companies: This technology we’re developing is dangerous and might destroy humanity and we don’t know how to stop it

Other people: So we should strictly regulate it, create legislative guard rails, and monitor its development?

AI companies: lol no the opposite of all that & give us more money

The messaging is so weird, that the federal government has enough money to just issue every American $5,000 today if the president wants to, BUT ALSO, no, he doesn't want to right now (only if the GOP wins).

A country-by-country assessment of Trump’s trade deals. A time-saver when so much bandwidth is consumed trying to work out the latest twitch.

"Many of them have turned out to be little more than press releases, if that."

By these metrics, the tariff-first approach to U.S. foreign policy has been a demonstrable failure.

I guess this answers the question, "What if Obama wanted to do White House renovations." Used to be able to stop them with a tweet from Reince Priebus, now you can't with the Supreme Court.

Canada sells energy/oil at bargain prices to the USA. We buy more non-energy good/services (per capita) from the USA than they buy from us. But they spit in our face, accuse us of "ripping them off," and threaten to annex us. Screw that - we will look elsewhere for better trading partners.

Time for Canadians, as polite as they are, to jump the boards, toss gloves and throw punches. Lake Michigan becomes Lake Inferior. Lake Erie becomes Lake Epstein. And so they remain until someone has the grace to apologize for this prolapsing asshole.

Instead I found arguments from 1802, 1885 and 1920 that would barely need rewriting to circulate online today.

That raises a rather disconcerting question.
