I just sent another message to Governor Lee, via this network. Christa Pike deserves to have her sentence commuted, and we *really* need to end state-killing here and across the U.S.: actionnetwork.org/letters/gove...
Governor Lee, Reconsider Clemency for Christa Pike
Given the Christa Pike's stay of execution, now is the time to ask Governor Lee to reconsider clemency.

I can live with this. His baseball team is doing better than is mine, unfortunately:

My wife, a middle-aged, middle-class White woman, just took a bus to the Duff Transit Center and then, another bus to her destination, arrived on time, and did it all without posting photos of herself on social media! I am so proud of her! May we all (European- & Asian-Americans) follow her example!

I agree with @katemanne.bsky.social about a hard NO toward sexual strangulation (katemanne.substack.com/p/how-sex-po...), especially considering its potential for brain damage. I hope that Manne also tells the Cornell admins. to end the football program. It, too, causes demonstrable brain damage.
How Sex-Positivity Lost its Way
We need to think about sex without shame but also without losing our critical faculties

Stifling the news (when they are self-censoring enough already) is not a good look.

No one claimed that walking outside the crosswalk is illegal, simply that, here, it is what happened. The news should report every relevant fact in every news story, of which this is one.
Really gonna need news organizations and police to stop saying people are "outside the crosswalk" when state law says that all intersections of public roads are legal crossings and there is no law against crossing outside of a crosswalk anyway...

I think that I would rather ride with a driver who drives carefully & defensively rather than one who thinks that he is seeing everything perfectly at all times and drives perfectly, too.

I'm sorry that Chris Bowe wants to score cheap points rather than work toward a solution.
People will just log on here and openly admit they shouldn’t be trusted behind the wheel. Incredible stuff!
Yes, but the pedestrian must be seen. More than once, mostly driving Trinity Lane, at night, I have barely seen black-clad men crossing far from a crosswalk.

Today is the day. Thanks to the day that I was born (6/25/59), I am, today, February 25th 2026, 66 years and eight months old, meaning that, today, I am two-thirds of the way to 100 years old. This probably deserves a small cake. I'm thinking of having written on top, in frosting, "2/3 · 100."

At 8:52, @themanaen.bsky.social begins a paragraph for the second time. He stops, says, "Okay, I'm reading the same fucking thing I wrote" (www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDD3...).

Of course, I hope that he's reading what he wrote, but not what he just read. This all raises the question: How stoned is he?

So, C.M. Parker: Please tell us about your text conversations during the August 5th Council Meeting, the ones to which C.M. Ellis referred, so you had to lean over her desk and curse at her?

C.M. Welsch lives in a house quitclaimed to her husband from his mother back in '97. It's on 71% of an acre, zoned RS10. Welsch protected it from the massive re-zoning she attempted to impose onto her constituents earlier this year.

So: double ouch.

Without a last-minute reprieve, we Tennesseans will kill Oscar Smith tomorrow morning, around 10:00. There is a vigil outside Riverbend starting at 9:00. I hope that every Tennessean will come to the vigil to bear witness to the outrage of killing a helpless person.
