Important point about the NH primary, it doesn't so much pick the winner as it does weed out losers
6/x previously, South Carolina was in a very dominant position in the calendar. Iowa and New Hampshire weeded out lesser candidates, and then South Carolina got to elevate a likely eventual nominee heading into Super Tuesday. Now, South Carolina's influence is actually much less than before.

this was a massive part of his viability! he would show up for everyone, no matter how remote or unimportant the place they lived. he did retail politics on a truly masterful level, and it added up! bsky.app/profile/chan...
This is the kind of venue Platner was speaking at during the primary campaign. Maybe a dozen people, including a couple journalists and a local candidate, in a town with less than a thousand people.
