I complained about it last night off here, but I'm so tired of Florida's political landscape. Our projected candidates for governor are either A: a Republican-turned-Democrat with the most milquetoast stances or B: a Republican who doesn't think climate change is real. Also they both support Israel.

We are relying on the extraordinary effort of a few to allow cons to run as usual, but I fear that there will be a breaking point and we will start losing conventions to headcount problems rather than demand problems. The best time to start these convos was 5-7 years ago. The next best time is now.

In case anyone needs a reminder, I don't think you should be buying from any of these silicone gear manufacturers. One of the big ones just showed off a new design that looks extremely similar to these latex hands made by my friends @friskycritters.bsky.social, a local furry maker.

Furry needs more, smaller events. Not just cons. Arts markets, one-off dance nights, pub nights, BBQs in the park and beach trips. Don't get too focused on the big giant conventions when there's a thriving community all around you! (And if there isn't, build one!)
