Nashvillian. Interested in Nashville politics, roller derby, reading, drinking strong black tea all day long. Got a new job so the disclaimer: opinions are my own, not my employer's, obviously.

Years ago, I did a study for Vanderbilt about how easily employees could commute by transit. Employees earning over $80k mostly lived west and had great bus access & could commute easily. Those earning under $40k mostly lived east, with terrible access to transit & commutes would be very hard.

Does it accomplish that? Crosstown routes would. I've known people who spent 4 hours on the bus for part-time jobs in bougie areas, but that's a damn hell of a lot to ask.

Shouldn't we stop giving the best routes to rich people who don't use or need it and return routes to those who are barely getting by?

This is Nashville and that's not how we roll, but a woman can dream.

So Vandy is dense with its dorms. Ok.

Why would I compare different cities when we have one right here.

I'd ask you to compare my neighborhood to other areas of Nashville, but I think Robin already did.

that if only neighborhoods will become more dense that they will then get services when some neighborhoods has been dense since some of y'all were eggs in yo mamas ovaries and then act confused about why they don't trust you.

You can't treat people like they don't matter for decades and then expect them to trust that they should accept whatever trade off you are offering. You can't take away their fully funded projects and misappropriate that money and then legitimately wonder why they don't trust you. You can't claim...

Why?

25% as with other homes. It's not like my personal townhome is a commercial property.

The fact that you know exactly how much I pay in extra taxes is a bit creepy stalkerish, but I'm pleased to know it is low because we don't get much at all beyond the trash. Have to pave our own roads, fix pipes that would elsewhere be the city's, etc.
July 27, 2026 at 2:17 AM
Which is a whole nother convo. We should get *rewarded* for living in townhomes, not taxed for services we don't get.

While we don't have a grid, we are not low density and we are only suburban in infrastructure. If we are suburban, why are we paying **urban** services district taxes?
July 26, 2026 at 9:12 PM
You know that's not the same at all. If y'all are so anti-car why be pro-cars as a sub for actual public transit?
July 25, 2026 at 1:42 AM
I do not have the resources to study that, but at least people paying urban services district taxes should have reasonable walk times to transit, it should be fairly distributed considering density and economic need. We sure as heck don't have that now.

You've missed my point. People working days cannot take advantage of our main library because the cheap parking he references seems to be available when they work. How wanting day workers to have access to the library could be misconstrued as being anti-night workers is confusing.
July 25, 2026 at 12:29 AM
What exactly are you asking?

I live in an area that was densely populated BEFORE the boogie hipster areas and we had our access taken away.

You know I didn't say everyone.

But if I pay USD taxes and my area is relatively densely populated I damn well should have ACCESS. Why are you against that?

If SATCO ever tasted good, I'd be concerned.
July 22, 2026 at 3:48 AM
You know we are arguing for ACCESS via public transit BEFORE pqrking is taken, not after. That's different than just demanding free parking. It is demanding ACCESS to our own ciry and the amenities we pay for.

We've been having flash floods for many, many years. Interesting to bring it up now.

I got an Olive Garden gift certificate so went after years and it sucked so, so bad. They gave me another gift certificate as a prize for my suffering and it, once again, sucked.

It is nothing but a damn playground for the rich if the taxpayers and citizens cannot have any meaningful access.
