Nashvillian. Interested in Nashville politics, roller derby, reading, drinking strong black tea all day long. Got a new job so the disclaimer: opinions are my own, not my employer's, obviously.

Years ago, I did a study for Vanderbilt about how easily employees could commute by transit. Employees earning over $80k mostly lived west and had great bus access & could commute easily. Those earning under $40k mostly lived east, with terrible access to transit & commutes would be very hard.

The vast majority of this area has HALF a bus route (it splits near the top).

We all know in our bones why the Vandy area matters more than a very diverse working class area, but we don't have to be ok with it.

To be clear, this map highlights discrimination.
A little desner/essentially the same - South Nashville. Notice the huge discrepancy in bus service: hundreds of stops in West Nashville, 51 in South. Also consider how many more parks, greenways, and bike lanes service in Edgehill, Hillsboro, West End and 12 South.

Totally insane that Nashville Soccer Club got me to sign up for free tickets but didn't mention we would have to STAND the whole damn time.

My chronic pain could never.

Guess I'm still not going to see a NSC game.

I ain't never shown a picture ID at the Olive Garden except when I ordered some alcohol drinks to cleanse my palate of the terrible taste. Sure as hell wasn't for pasta.
Scalise: "Anybody that gets on an airplane has to show a picture ID to vote. Nowadays, if you want to go to Olive Garden and get unlimited pasta, you gotta show a picture ID. This isn't complicated stuff."

If I had a dollar for every time the weather radio went off, I wouldn't need to go to work Thursday.

Is there no better way than to send give or take 13 severe thunderstorm warnings as if I didn't notice the blaring siren-like hell sound of the first one?

Damn thieves blew up the library, get paid exponentially more than a regular Metro worker, and are too damn incompetent to have an operating reserve. Damn this city and it's willingness to bankroll these incompetent troublemakers. Taxpayers work too damn hard to have them in charge of our money.
I would love to stop thinking about NDP but the more I learn the worse it is.

I’ve confirmed that what we heard tuesday — that they do not maintain operating reserves — came straight from Tom Turner to Metro staff.

Coupled with the lawsuit allegations this looks to be a very poorly run operation

Could someone please do an analysis which I am sure will reveal a disproportionate percentage of rainy weekends here because God apparently hates Tennessee.

Could it rain while were stuck indoors working please?

This guy shouldn’t be on death row to begin with. A jury voted to give him a life sentence. They were overridden by the judge who wanted him executed. Alabama has since ended the ability of judges to override a jury’s sentence.

For so many women, the trauma of being raped doesn’t end at the hospital door. That’s where the 2nd one starts. The treatment, the follow-up care, the months of putting yourself back together. All of it lands on the one person who did nothing wrong.

Sickening that nothing was done about this utter corruption. 🤢🤮
Our Pulitzer-winning "Friends of the Court" series began with this story that revealed how SCOTUS Justice Clarence Thomas had, for 20+ years, been treated to undisclosed luxury vacations by real estate titan and GOP megadonor Harlan Crow.

I teared up this morning when I realized that this is the only thing my immigrant wife has been allowed to vote on in her 25 years in America and it was taken from her and our whole community.

She says she isn't the type to call the mayor like me, but she's really upset. "This is fraud," she said.

Cancelled my birthday dinner because they made it sound so horrible out there then five minutes later they post that it's over.
5:29p/ No longer any portion of our two counties under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning, and it appears our severe threat is over for the evening. However, a Flash Flood Warning for much of Davidson Co. remains in effect until 7p. If you encounter a flooded roadway, turn around - don't drown.

3 years ago I submitted 9 ideas for Nashville's participatory budgeting. The one promised to our neighborhood was funded but Metro Parks is refusing to complete it. Frustrating when I had so much hope three years ago.

Wow this is bizarre. I wish California was sovereign. I'd move back to my birth country and they'd not have to subsidize welfare red states anymore. No war from states that cannot afford to exist without blue state money.
Justice Thomas, joined by Justice Alito: California's issuance of driver's licenses to illegal immigrants would justify Florida going to war with California if they weren't part of the same country.
