“It’s 2 o’clock. Why are there people?”
Peacemaker for nearly two seasons was my favorite superhero anything in TV or movies and then in the S2 finale it lets out a wet fart of the “it’s good, but what it hints at of the future is what is really exciting” letdown that had me done with the genre until S1

Hot take: The makers of The Smashing Machine would have done better as a Netflix movie. It would have found massive eyeballs this weekend and gotten to the right demographic exactly the way it is. It’s good but I was the only one in the theater Friday for a reason - and that is a Regal Gift card

A girl getting her senior highschool photos taken by a professional, leaning up against a prominent marijuana shop in town as backdrop, with her mom directing to the side, is a classic 2025 moment

Miller's Crossing! Is it good? Most would say so, but one of us says 'no'! Can he survive the ensuing melee? Can you even bring weapons to a podcast?!?! Tune in gentle listener... #squib szn. #coenbrothers #millerscrossing #filmsky

The back half of Alien:Earth was a ton of fun but the the dull and over cooked first half, taking the longest route to explain and set up everything in the most outline-to-screen way possible is an issue Hawley has had since Fargo S4. Not sure why it takes him so long to get into a story now

HR Giger designed the single greatest movie monster of all time. Nothing comes close. It’s weird every few iterations of the IP has lesser beings take his design and say, “what if it looked… less alien and more like a, I dunno, a panther or a flea?” and everybody nods thinking it’s a great idea.

the last week feels like: “Fascism and authoritarianism are HERE.” “Free speech is threatened like never before.” “Inflation and unemployment are up.” “If you aren’t fighting YOU are part of the problem.”

Outside of work this morning a guy who sleeps in the park was up and yelling to himself: “YOU GOT THIS! I BELIEVE IN YOU!” over and over. I hope it worked and he is having a great day.

This season of Star Trek Strange New Worlds has felt wildly miscalculated at every turn. I liked a few of the episodes but the surprising fun of the first season are long gone. Since they already finished the 4th season it seems a course correction is unlikely.

In Alien: Earth, the fact that no one with a say in the matter noticed or mentioned the little thing the hybrid’s head rests in when recharging looks exactly like a toilet seat says a lot about this production

Alien: Earth is (so far) the most Dark Horse Comics adaptation while not being a Dark Horse Comics adaptation ever

There were one or two episodes of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds in S1 and S2 I could not finish so I should not be surprised - the swings are part of the fun - but that holodeck episode was so bad and dire and tone deaf it has me questioning this entire season

Take away my photoshop, take away my tablets, I can still draw. Take away your plagiarism machine and what are you gonna do? Shout prompts at me?

After the ultimately drab Fantastic Four movie I picked up a Lee/Kirby FF collection and found a hilarious difference between the two: the film replaces Reed casually working on crazy huge Kirby devices while chatting the the fam with him writing on a blackboard solo and looking concerned. 👎

Superman has a terrible dog and manages saves a squirrel in the middle of a huge battle. Metamorpho flies around as a just head and later makes his fist a giant stone hammer against a tank. I can be a very picky man when it comes to movies but on a hot July day? That’s all I need.

Almost forgot that right wing trolls pretended to be offended by old James Gunn tweets and got him temporarily fired by Disney, opening the window for him to direct THE SUICIDE SQUAD, which set him up to later become the head of DC Films. Thank you for making "woke Superman" possible, chuds!
