I defended my PhD dissertation, "Tracing and Assessing Transformational Climate Adaptation over Time in Public Wastewater Infrastructure Systems" yesterday! My defense was a massive success and I am honored to have earned a PhD in civil & environmental engineering from the University of Connecticut!
I would very much like Patrick Sandoval to never start a Red Sox game again

So when a Dem says they agree with any of this, they are taking a position that is against what trans people ALREADY HAD just 5 years ago.

That's why trans people won't accept it. It's not about progress, it's about preventing a managed decline in civil rights agreed to by Democrats.

So when libs say, you need to do incremental progress like gay marriage, it completely ignores the rollbacks that have happened in 5 years. It is every aspect of trans life from where we use the bathroom, how we are addressed, what our IDs say, to even censorship on discussions about our existence.

I wrote this quickly at a bus stop and didn't realize it would go viral, or else I would have worded it better. But the point is that the media is too credulous about AI killing everyone in 10 years (how?) when climate change is killing people now and will only get worse (we know exactly how).
I resigned from ExxonMobil today. I spent the last three years doing fossil fuel extraction research at both BP and ExxonMobil. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing to maximize extraction while the window to act closes, and gambling with our lives. More below.

One more Aroldis Chapman note:

His 1st save was July 6, 2011, for the Reds at the Cardinals. He struck out Jon Jay looking at a 101-mph FB to end the game.

His 400th save came 15 years and 2 months later, when he struck out Christian Encarnacion-Strand swinging at a 101-mph FB to end the game.

A particularly infuriating aspect of this A.I. bullshit is that nobody seems to remember that we all got along just fine without it for centuries. How are we all suddenly incapable of reading and understanding written words? Of creating art? Of telling stories? It’s madness.

It is honestly hilarious how much the media is pushing a guy who would be atrociously lucky to get 2% of the primary vote in any state
Rahm Emanuel: ‘You Don’t Like My Ideas? Show Me Yours’

The always pugnacious Democrat is ready to fight Republicans, the DSA, and Bibi Netanyahu. And maybe run for president.
Rahm Emanuel: 'You Don't Like My Ideas? Show Me Yours'
Rahm Emanuel wants to take on Republicans and Democrats from the "pragmatic center." He talks Israel, the DSA, a possible run for president and more.

The arrogance of Moulton just completely disregarding that this was the exact dynamic that played out the last time Markey was up for reelection
Even in this generational moment for Democrats, it’s not enough to just be younger. Primary voters need to believe the candidate has big ideas too. Markey won by highlighting his progressive credentials and casting Moulton to his right and as too tied to establishment orthodoxy.
Sen. Ed Markey defeats Rep. Seth Moulton to win his Democratic primary, @nbcnews.com projects.

Markey is 80; Moulton is 47. But Markey played up his progressive credentials and cast doubt on Moulton’s. Markey will likely cruise to reelection in dark blue Massachusetts this fall.

J.D. Vance killed this young man. bsky.app/profile/reic...
Awful. Just awful. A promising young man, a high school honors grad who joined JROTC and dreamed of becoming a doctor, killed himself because of the Trump admin’s obsession with hurting Haitians and the humiliating shame of an ICE ankle monitor.

His blood is on their hands.
