One thing that has caught be by surprise is becoming more and more drawn to libertarianism as I've gotten older. It just seems like every time there's an opportunity, the state takes it to increase power to infringe on peoples rights

So we're outsourcing initial job interviews to AI now? You'd think all the productivity gains would free up humans for the important things, like interviewing our future co-workers.

The irony of the Internet is that in many ways it has done opposite of what was expected of it. For instance, though it has made information more accessible, people are now more misinformed. It's easier to connect yet loneliness is more present in our society, people are more polarized etc

It's tragic that the current trajectory of AI is not a future with some tranquility and some type of UBI, instead we're looking at a future that increasingly feudalistic, of the haves and have nots

the funniest thing about bluesky is that most of the bluesky staff and contributors don't seem to mention that fact in their bio or very often generally so they're just random people

Gambling is blowing up bc people don’t believe the merit thing anymore. We've watched our parents work hard, do everything right and still struggle to make ends meet. for many people (particularly minorities)a path where success is determine by pure luck, gives you better odds than relying on merit

This is a a really good point. I see a lot of people saying that LLMs are good for brainstorming and I really don’t think so. I think the best use for LLMs in any form of creative medium is to /organize/ and structure your ideas, rather than expand them
If I put the first half of a sentence from one of my articles into ChatGPT, it will complete the sentence. It won’t be illogical, but also it never predicts what I actually wrote, and quite often it changes the meaning what I said or takes away all interesting meaning leaving you with…
