I don't think I was prepared for the level of friction one experiences when interfacing with systems. As a disabled child, I mostly avoided that friction because I had parents who didn't advocate for me, so it was a different kind of friction entirely.

Add to that the weird fetishisation some white queers have with black women, and this is a big reason why I had to take a step back from organising: I didn't like not knowing if I was at the table for the right reason, or because someone wanted to bend me over it.
People cannot really control their attractions but it’s really important to be aware of this stuff because pretty privilege IS very much a thing in queer spaces. It is a social currency: “how much do people want to fuck you” is essentially the MAIN social currency in a lot of queer places
