At least 52 people have died in ICE custody since Trump returned to the White House.

At least 23 people have been shot at by federal immigration agents.

And thousands more have been caged, separated from their families, or shipped off to dangerous countries.

The cruelty is endless.

“I’ve had enough…I’m refusing to back down.”

Texas state Rep. Nicole Collier speaks to MSNBC from the Texas State Capitol. She is stuck there after the Texas GOP required police surveillance as condition for release. She is refusing to sign a waiver for the law enforcement escort.

As a former Texas State Rep, let me be clear: LOCKING Rep. Nicole Collier inside the chamber is beyond outrageous.

Forcing elected officials to sign “permission slips” & take police escorts to leave? That’s not procedure. That’s some old Jim Crow playbook.

Must read. The attack on disabled children is a feature, not a bug. It is gross, diminishes our humanity as a society and impoverishes our economy.

Calling my reps especially annoyed today because they're making me take time away from bar exam prep to beg them to protect basic human rights.

Arguing with them over the phone is not enough, i need to argue with them in court.

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act aims to give tax breaks to the ultra-rich at the expense of the lives of everyday people. It proposes reducing Medicaid funding by half, adding new work requirements for Medicaid & SNAP, and reducing the Child Tax Credit. Over 16M Americans would lose access to care.

what is it called when people who aren't cops and don't have a warrant drag you away, because I don't think "arrest" is the word
Brad Lander, NYC comptroller and mayoral candidate, is arrested outside immigration court
New York City comptroller and Democratic mayoral candidate Brad Lander has been arrested at a federal building in Manhattan as he was trying to accompany a person out of an immigration courtroom.

Lander has been released and says he’s fine, minus a missing button

He says he’ll get due process, but the man he was trying to protect will not

“He’s not gonna sleep in his bed tonight,” he said. “So far as I know, he has no lawyer. He has been stripped of his due process rights”

who are your actions in alignment with?

When peers say they wish they had my accommodations on exams, i reply "i'll trade you - but you have to take my conditions too, and we never trade back."

My ACLU colleagues who have been working 24 hours a day were definitely not sleeping and I am just so grateful for them!
While we were all sleeping:

The Supreme Court, in an order issued in the middle of the night, ordered the Trump administration to not remove anyone under the Alien Enemies Act until other legal steps play out in the lower courts.

The White House's "Lab Leak" page has a lot of misinformation and disinformation and it seems to be designed to promote outrage for folks who don't know a lot about public health, pandemics, or disease transmission. Here's a few things i think are worth pointing out:

There are few things nigh all US politicians agree on—regardless of party—but one major area of lockstep is pandemic denial. You must understand that if you choose to go maskless in essential public indoor spaces at the very least, YOU are contributing to the environment that allowed this to happen.
