What a country builds with public money is a statement of what it values. We must build for those already living through fires, floods, and extreme weather—not for the balance sheets of companies unwilling to risk their own capital on a new pipeline.

"Canada strong", "national interest", "sovereignty", "Orange Scary Bad Man" -- all propaganda to get Canadians to accept the erosion of climate protections, food security, labour rights, Indigenous rights, the public sector, and public ownership. And all working very well indeed.
He’s using “in the national interest” the same way premiers have used the notwithstanding clause to violate rights. He legislated a bill specifically to do this.

Canada is preparing to spend tens of billions building a pipeline the oil companies themselves won’t finance.
