All leftists should study Carney. His politics are easy. More complex is his skill at affect—ennobling patriarchal capitalism, offering the illusion of secure attachment. Anybody who thinks they can bypass the Frankfurt School in sussing him out is playing with half a deck.

Carney’s god-tier skills are 1) to normalize the abusive intentions of capital through the affects of moderation, security, and wholesomeness. And 2) to reassure the world’s wealthiest people while making regular people think he’s reassuring them.

In case it wasn't clear, this is Mark Carney manufacturing consent for the worse outcomes and deaths that will come with widespread digital asbestos adoption (and yes, there have been deaths and there will be more), because they justify it with "progress."

The thing is, once we've spent the trillion - they still own our future, and our children's.

It’s a bit odd to talk about potential costs when in reality nobody has *any* idea what Carney actually has in mind,

I can’t remember a single time in the past 50 years where one man was given such latitude to determine Canada’s future in the absence of *any* public debate or discussion.
There are costs for Mark Carney’s closer ties with Europe
There could be a political cost in addition to the financial price tag for Canada’s proposed “unique alliance” with the European Union.

The “sovereign” data centres they are announcing at Carney’s investment summit are for citizen surveillance and biometric data that will be enabled by this legislation. It is important it doesn’t pass as-is.

That we already (in Canada and the US) have laws on the books to address tech company bad behaviour is such an important point. The refusal to enforce these laws is a choice, and it's one that directly erodes the very foundations of liberal-democratic society.

I've begun the journey of de-subscribing for "services" in my life. Itunes was first. Raising the price for a service that wasn't improved in any way, was the catalyst. Looking through and listening to my old CD collection is definitely a boon! Plus, i own my CDs.

While everyone is distracted with the bright shiny object of possibile associate EU membership, Carney is trying to sell off public-owned airports, ports, toll roads, power grids, and water systems in order to privatize them, as if they were his to just give away like that.

Canada needs to open an investigation to Canadian Epstein parasites. The silence on this is deafening.
Former Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper took money from Jeffrey Epstein and nobody seems to care. Harper is giving the closing speech at Carney's investment Summit this week. Nobody finds this suspicious? Really?
