If we bought a few less bombs, we could probably afford nice things.

One thing I'd like to see from the next presidency would be to appoint a special commission to prepare a report on the actual cost to defend the United States from attack.

Not foreign wars.

Just the cost to defend this country.

The answer to why Australia might soon be importing gas is that gas companies are exporting around 35 times more gas than any projected "shortage".

Australia does not have a gas shortage. 80% of Australia's gas goes overseas.
