Ugh, this is sad. My first job out of college was working in the interlibrary loan dept of Northwestern’s library. The African Studies collections were so amazing and unique. People requested these materials from all over the world. 😢

This is an absolute travesty.
Northwestern has, probably, the 2nd best library collection for African History/Studies in the USA (behind Yale and ahead of MSU, UCLA, etc).
A self-inflicted wound that is absolutely, 100% unnecessary given the massive wealth of Northwestern--north of $15 billion.

I've updated my info privilege backpack for the AI/Trump/Musk era. Womp, womp. It's depressing that when I first created this graphic back in ~2019 and updated with student input, "academic freedom" wasn't a topic that came up for my US students.
