Let your city council member know that this action is unjust and unacceptable by sending them an email or reserving time to talk at an upcoming meeting at www.tupeloms.gov/my-governmen...

Our tax dollars and public resources should not be used to prop up a monopolistic corporation worth close to a trillion dollars that overcharges us, uses government-subsidized corporate welfare, and then underpays our friends and neighbors who do the actual work to keep their stores running!

NMS DSA unequivocally condemns this action by the city council. We recognize Councilwoman Rosie Jones for being the only one to vote against this Draconian measure.

They have voted to spend YOUR tax dollars to protect Walmart’s interests, recreating the same conditions that caused the senseless murder of Kohen Wiley. Are a megacorp’s consumer products really worth more than a child’s life? It’s clear who this government really wants to protect and serve.

In light of recent events in Senatobia, our local politicians send a clear message: big business is more important than human lives.

Why should the hard-earned tax dollars of the citizens of Tupelo be spent on subsidizing a multinational private corporation that could easily afford to employ its own security?

NMSDSA would also like to dedicate itself to upholding the same quality standards for candidates that the DSA is known for nationwide, so we can continue to build a better world together!✊🌹

We see this incident as an argument to strengthen the position of our candidates and the effectiveness of a DSA endorsement that also comes with a grassroots political machine built by and for the working class.

When a DSA chapter endorses a candidate, the candidate is vetted through their involvement in the chapter and is subject to an internal democratic process that precedes their nomination and endorsement.

The NMSDSA would also like to make it clear, after several attempts by mainstream media to associate Mr. Platner with the DSA, that Mr. Platner was never a DSA-endorsed candidate.
