Idk why I didn't realize it sooner (as I'm sure many others have probably noted this already) but this is what finally made it click for me that we are just doing wolf warrior diplomacy now.

Which, for many reasons: lol
EISEN: Markets are wondering if we're in tit for tat trade war w/Canada

BESSENT: I don't think you can be in a tit for tat with someone who's 13 times larger than you

E: They say they're doing ok

B: What else are they gonna say? What are they gonna do? Take their 2 submarines & sic them on us?

There any way we can get GOP to start rounding up and deporting AI if we frame it to their voters as a gender fluid population threatening their majority status and stealing their jobs? Is that a thing?

Nate Silver was always a bit of a PITA but before he completely lost the plot his site did genuinely novel and interesting work detaching data from vibes in political coverage, and the disappearance of FiveThirtyEight is a real loss.

I'm making childsplaining a thing. It's like mansplaining, but instead it's when a Zoomer leftist who watched a YouTube video starts lecturing an IR/NATSEC professional on Israel-Palestine.

Moneyball the kill web.
Robert "Madyar" Brovdi: My units spend approximately $40 million per month on drones and inflict about $4 billion in damage on Russia — roughly 1-to-100 ratio.

The cost of destroying one Russian infantryman is $882. This is very good exchange rate of money for enemy's manpower.

New NATSEC trolley problem just dropped.
When privately owned data centres constitute Mission Vital Infrastructure, they become targets and militaries will have to protect it somehow

In other words, do you use your scarce air defence for data centres, force protection, or protecting your own population?
Iran acknowledges they are targeting AWS and Azure data centres. "The Iranians view data centres as part of the conflict,” said Matt Pearl, a director at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

Lastly, they are for the soul of your nation and your cause. Limits on war preserve humanity. Mercy transcends violence. After the fighting, there has to be something more. Rules of engagement and the laws of armed conflict protect you; abandoning them is dire.

I honestly think one reason Millennials are so angry about all this is that many of us grew up during the brief period in American history where the official line was that we had won history *because* of our values, and most of us actually internalized that.
Why don't the people of the Twin Cities just stay home and let DHS do as it pleases? Speaking only for himself, Mike Somes explains that he personally does it because he is an idiot who does it because he failed to realize that all that talk about inalienable rights was an elaborate joke all along.

This whole thing has, of course, resulted in a great many people with little to no experience in NATSEC or with the military confidently spouting off about what should be/have been done by the military.

It's infuriating and exhausting.
