the irony of don’t be an asshole to your family members otherwise we'll fight and we won't get to stay together with the family members who treat you like shit. The irony

it’s easy to say that women and queer authors and authors of color are held to higher standards because of mere animosity towards them but i think a major mechanism of that is this diarist image of them where their work is about themselves and its contents are loved or hated in that light

silmarillion fans handshake the rabbis of old and at the middle it says “who tf was this character’s wife though? we have to make up something about her”

and I suppose it's lack of experience, I get it, but then. Just don't be an asshole? No??

but younger generations of professors/assistants are so keen on drawing assumptions and moralising that it's genuinely disturbing and embarrassing tbh. Embarrassing because they're just so wrong about why students & humans "fail" in a way that truly shows teaching wasn't really for them

and what if she's a good mother but literally bad at everything else. what then?? It's just so weird that that might be the first line of defense, and I get why this happens but sanctity of motherhood can sometimes limit how fully a character can be understood

exactlyyy and good motherhood/parenthood is such a feeble measure of character like, there's a difference in how it's perceived by the parent and the child and different irrational feelings each might have about it

at the very least don't act all friendly truly this fandom is something

and like I know this mostly comes from a good place but what I'm saying is are we able to think of other characteristics that may be good but don't rely on the dichotomy of good vs bad mother. Are we

=this is just to say that the way exams are structured here makes resorting to ai tools highly unlikely, but students aren't treated any better than databases if that makes sense.

The most satisfying exam I took was my last one and actually the only instance in which the exam was structured as a discussion and a genuine exchange of opinions between me and my professor.
