it’s easy to say that women and queer authors and authors of color are held to higher standards because of mere animosity towards them but i think a major mechanism of that is this diarist image of them where their work is about themselves and its contents are loved or hated in that light

i had a professor in undergrad who said that male authors are understood to be capable of abstraction from themselves whereas all women are diarists whose work directly reflects them, even to their admirers, and i think a lot about how that effect propels heightened scrutiny on certain authors

law students in my country are seldom required to take written exams so I dont see how ai can be a problem here. That said 2 critiques: 1) this leaves students unprepared to deal with academic writing or writing in general; 2) the way oral exams are structured is no guarantee of deep comprehension
