Cobra meeting = BBQ gimmick

OK Burnham...and the rest please?

🔥 Where's the rest of the climate action?!
💧 Where's the nationalising water companies?
🚫 Where's the HELL NO the fossil fuel bosses deserve?

Downing Street's press release for Burnham's "emergency" Cobra meeting on the drought didn't even mention climate, with the Prime Minister blaming the growing numbers of wildfires on disposable barbecues.

He's since appeared on GB News this afternoon to talk about migrant camps

Burnham Bullshit

Ignoring the question and not even making any sense.....

The Prime Minister is not going to do anything to stop people dying in heatwaves

Disposable BBQs are a woefully inadequate, tiny drop in the warming ocean

COBRA meeting was a gimmick.

Hard to think of a more deeply damaging start to Burnham’s premiership than giving green light to new oil & gas in N. Sea, if true. It won’t lower bills or lead to greater energy security but will drive an even hotter planet. What a terrible signal to give to rest of the world #ClimateVandalism

He wanted universities and departments to research the link between CO₂ and learning outcomes, because if he could connect health, learning, and concentration, it would show that students in poorly ventilated schools are disadvantaged before they even step into an exam hall.

“Another part of the plan would limit benefits to people with UK citizenship, removing it even from those who have been in the country for years or even decades and have indefinite leave to remain”

If this is not xenophobia then I don’t know what is.
Sickening.

The MILLIONS of people who were denied vaccines are suddenly realising.

@rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social this was a terrible idea.

Not only will the NHS struggle this autumn / winter, but people will suffer and die unnecessarily.

It isn't too late for a U-turn!

So an armed force of unidentified people with a near limitless budget are going to round randomly-selected people up outside of due process, force them into camps, and (potentially) rent out their labour for profit. There are words for this.
