Visible mending on my old running trainers 😅 I'm not running but I'm off out and the rain is definitely with us here in Liverpool. I'm hoping this is accepted as eco minded and not born from being too poor to buy £4 trainers in the sale at Asda. 🤔 It ain't easy being green. 🐸 #sustainability #eco
Scruffy old running trainers possibly mizuno brand tied with ugly double knot bows part of the mesh by big toe on either shoe has had a hole mended in a butter yellow thread. The trainers are silver and grey with neon yellow details. I have my feet up on the coffee table as nobody was home and it's my house :) a teddy bear notebook is on the table and some aged (frankly dead) flowers in a jug, there is a hot wheels car like the Playskool telephone from toystory. Beyond this the fireplace with wood burning stove and an assortment of things that gather dust.

Reassembled and fixed old birdbath in church garden. It's new memorial marker coming soon but it does look nice and should be a bonus to birds if kept clean. Might need to create a role of birdbath boss to keep it looking nice. I like it's simple design. #ecochurch #gardening #birdbath #birds

Tomatoes! On some shabby looking tomato plants, they are turning red. Little spikey cucumbers grown in a pot. Cucamelons these little grape sized curcubits are a lovely refreshing biteful. The goji berry is in bud at last and when these flowers open theoretically we shall get fruits!

Same little fruit in the palm of my hand, it is dark green with a light green pattern it looks like a tiny melon and tastes like a tomato/melon/cucumber crisp and sweet and sharp On the plant which has tendrils and vibes and leaves the melon like fruit hangs

A photo of our cat Carina who is a dark brown cat with a bit of salt and pepper she's sitting on a sofa with a sunflower print cushion cover the sofa is duck egg blue the phrase I'm 7 is in red on the photo. Carina as many other cats does not like new things especially when old things are replaced with new things so her new (unfrayed) scratching post which stands behind her is ignored. The post and some cat snacks Her post was life and soul of her not actually a party and came to life. It is shown with cat toy eyeballs and a card with 7 on it balanced on top making it like a face.

Butterflies spotted on our first Christ Church Big Butterfly Count of 2026. 4 red admirals (possibly more but four at one time) 1 green veined white 1 large white 1 meadow brown :) great fun and we hope to try again next Sunday and also have a go at home. #ecochurch #bigbutterflycount #norrisgreen

I forgot the finished pond photo today, so that's incoming! We had so many stones and gravel donated to us in the end that we have been able to highlight these features from the old church building that once stood here, looking a bit 'spenny' #ecochurch #christchurchnorrisgreen #gardening #liverpool
A bit of stonemasonery depicting (I think) the coat of arms of the Diocese of Liverpool it is worn but there is an open book with thy word is truth a three masted ship and an eagle (sadly not a liver bird but still lovely) this is set on a square piece of stone taken from an old building and placed in the border of a new build church, it has been surrounded with cotswold stone chips and shows up dark grey against the white colour of the gravel. A closer look at this emblem and the new gravel, Consecration Stone given same treatment as the emblem in previous photos. It's words form a circle on stone around the cross.

A small part of the garden set aside as an orchard plum and apple trees are standing in long grass with two worn in paths A view of the pond which stands out even in the long grass this was a MUST so it could be seen and also detected under foot before getting a soaking! Our nature pond it has evaporated quite a lot but thankfully the depths remain. Now we have put all the stones in (the dry spell helped) it should help preserve the liner. The pond fills to the plants level it is a small pond with stones of various sizes, a branch reaches a cross and four plants are to the edge and one a bog arum of some kind is rising from the deep part of the pond.

A wildflower meadow stretches to the horizon, it looks like mostly cornflowers but there is white and yellow in there too I will have a good look next time I'm passing. A row of houses and a block of flats make a line on the horizon with tall mature trees behind and above this a blue sky with some soft pale clouds

The main stretch isn't doing no mow may but the orchard is. Here's our stripes,we get a bit longer at the back like a mullet then the orchard grows wild. The blackcurrant went in to fill a space & feed the birds. It doesn't show but we have a wild garden award! #ecochurch #christchurchnorrisgreen
Jimmy has cut the grass lovely stripes. Our empty and tilted bird bath has been usurped by the pond it's going to be straightened soon and filled with pebbles to make a little insect drinking area. Nobody lives on site so cannot clean bird baths often enough the pond luckily is thriving. Beyong the striped lawn and ts little stepping stone path is a flower bed the main focus is a honey locust tree and beyond this a tall oak tree An awkward spot has been filled with a blackcurrant bush that will hopefully romp away and fill this area and provide food for the birds. Other plants are perhaps couleus and cotoneaster a dog wood and a fern. They are in that order in a small border against the church building which is a modern cabin made out of reused 2012 Olympic cabins. Our Wild Garden Award and a lovely moth booklet for more ideas on getting nature into our space.

it's hot but here's some garden updates from Christ Church Norris Green #christchurchnorrisgreen #ecochurch #gardening we left tidying the flower bed to mid May not expecting this heat! Hopefully any overwintering creatures have left safely. The pond was visited by a thrush which was lovely to see.
A lovely iris has flowered in the centre flower bed. It's upright and fancy show is contrasted against a low holly bush. Aliums guiding us through. The ground was dry for weeding but it was high on the list and in a heatwave a small light job is best! Taken when clouds were a thing so about a week ago. Focus has been weeding this central bed. A guitar body (roughly) shaped bed in a lawn has a focal point of a young honey locust tree (a thornless type) aliums grasses cranesbill all fight for attention

Rather wonky looking collapsible rain barrel... Will see how it goes... 🤭 Took ages to make not sure we've done a good job of it! Bought from Age UK. Hope to use it for our grey household water collection from the dehumidifier etc. 🤭 #gardening

Waiting for our cruise on Windermere a small ferry boat approaches. The water is still and three small wooden boats are pulled up onto a shingle shore two Canada geese are sunning on the beach. Sky is blue water is blue far bank is green and heavy with trees. On the boat The Tern 1891 it was a great tour of half of Windermere and only stupidly windy which made it feel sporty and rugged. We are posing for a selfie having found a spot out of the wind on board. A memorial plaque is behind us. Sky tower bird watching platform at Leighton Moss RSPB reserve. A fantastic day out.

Cheesy just arrived trip to arcade. Sea wall views windier than it looks, the sky is a lovely blue a path meanders into the distance some rocks form sea defences and beyond this the shore which looks more like mud flats than beach. I'm carving the lettering on a sign that says Resilience Garden it's a new feature in the making at the garden of christ church norris green, we have a tiny allotment being developed a container garden by a kitchen window in the space similar to a terraced house front garden, or a balcony. So far I have done the word Garden. Our little barrel pond and an Acer in a pot stand behind the round glass garden table I'm working from. Coot chicks three and an adult coot they are in the water. Small rhubarb plant in the border here at home. An old hoe with a pale blue metal handle stands next to it.
