Surprised that 'woke' is being used as a criticism by the BBC. Caring for the planet is a good thing, surely?

As someone who stayed, it’s both. Liberal/left discourse hollowed out completely as people left, which gave the false impression of a cultural shift, and that drove some people to the right because they can’t distinguish between real life and Twitter.

The school notebook of the 14-year-old boy killed by Russia in Kyiv today.

The Russian strike killed him in the middle of the day, in his own room.

His desk still had the notebook with unfinished homework.

The Facial Expressions of Tethys by artist Julius von Bismarck. A suspended high-sea buoy that moves in real time. Sensors on a twin buoy out in the Atlantic Ocean send live satellite data to motors inside the museum. This makes the indoor buoy copy the exact, real-time movements of the ocean waves.

“The BBC lost its reporting sea-legs with Brexit.”

Excellent thread.
I would love to ask a prominent BBC journalist to give me an example of an illegitimate concern. Is seems to me that it has become a question not of fact, logic, or ethics but of volume. If a big enough proportion of a village was anxious about Bigfoot or Chemtrails, BBC would cover it in a way...

Sort of like … oh gosh, trying to think of an example here … ok wait, I’ve got a crazy one … it’s like running a casino, but where your expenses exceed your revenues.

And then you have to file for bankruptcy.

IMO, the AI companies are better off running with the "rogue AI" story because the real story is actually pretty embarrassing.

It’s also the character of the people making the donations which is extremely worrying - as I argued in this thread over the summer ⬇️
