Have you ever snapped at someone and immediately regretted it? Sent an angry text and wished you could take it back? Felt your heart race over something that wasn’t really a big deal? If you answered yes to any of those, your brain is working exactly as designed. That doesn’t mean it feels good. 1/2

Same.

It’s a distinct separation of fact vs fear driven parenting.
“It’s created a stark divide: Some parents are eager to get their child protected as early as possible, while others wonder if we are overly panicked. As a pediatrician, it is dizzying to have a family clamoring for the MMR vaccine in one room while the room next door adamantly opposes vaccination”
How pediatricians like me are helping families stay calm and informed about measles
“It is dizzying to have a family clamoring for the MMR vaccine in one room while the room next door adamantly opposes vaccination,” writes a pediatrician.

I am looking forward to the end of the political ads and calls.

It would be a bonus if we could have them stop all of the ads and calls if we reach a certain percentage of votes cast.

That could make even more people head to the polls early, but I do love that so many have already voted.

I’ve had several things arrive with significant delays through USPS lately. Thankfully my area has drop boxes around town to leave ballots and offers early voting for several weeks prior to elections. This helps to insure everyone has a chance to vote.

But I would not mail a ballot.
📬 USPS delays this midterm season could cause your mail ballot to not be counted.

Nearly half the zip codes in the lower 48 will be affected by new USPS procedures.

We mapped those zip codes to help you figure out whether your mail ballot could be affected ⬇️
The Postal Service is slowing delivery. Will your mail ballot be affected?

All the kids getting measles these days are at risk of neurologically deteriorating and dying years after seeming to recover.

If only there was a safe way to prevent this…

[There is. Well meaning parents are simply choosing to avoid the prevention.]
Measles can cast a long shadow, even after an apparent full recovery

While rare, measles-related conditions like acute disseminated encephalomyelitis can cause death, disability and other chronic medical issues, sometimes persisting years after an initial infection.

Teens with ADHD often complain that they feel left out or that they don’t have friends. Parents can help guide them to use social skills and regulate emotions before they lose control to help them feel like they fit in better without masking who they really are.

FMLA paperwork is not appropriate for parents with sick kids. It’s impossible to fill out. If I had a crystal ball, I’d play the lottery. As it is, I don’t know how to answer the questions.

I cannot stand Doc Marshall. He should know better about a lot of the poor public health platforms he endorses based on his medical training. I hope Rev. Hamilton can push him out. During early COVID years Hamilton was very pro-science so I think he'll be good for Kansas.

Why Kansas has the nation’s most interesting U.S. Senate race
The red state hasn’t sent a Democrat to the U.S. Senate since 1932. It’s hard not to wonder whether that streak might soon end.

I remember the days of trying to help my child calm down by suggesting they take a deep breath, but all that led to was a louder yell.

Triggered brains, especially ADHD brains, don't work well, and even calm, rational words can hit wrong.

There’s no quick fix. Prevention is best. We have the tools but don’t always use them, which leads to regret and the demand for a quick cure.
Every cough and cold season, adults and kids go to primary or urgent care reasonably seeking some remedy to help with their mild virus associated discomfort (eg #antibiotics for #colds). These are teachable moments in terms of what does/doesn’t help the patient.

Depression commonly co-occurs with ADHD. When this combination occurs is associated with greater clinical complexity and poorer outcomes.

Even though some of us have tried to state the risks, warnings fall on deaf ears.
I know that sharing this is probably not going to change the mind of anyone who isn't already masking and taking #Covid seriously, but I have to do my due diligence and at least try! Years from now, people will be like "Nobody told us! 😫" about this, too. Some of us are trying, dawg!! #maskup 😷

A USPS package made it from several states away to the city next to mine, went a little further north but still in the KC area, then to Minnesota. It’s been traveling the country for 3 weeks and I needed it a month ago. The postal service person I spoke with basically said I just have to wait. 📦

This is exciting to hear. It validates what many of us in healthcare suspect- we’d save more lives for less money if we start universal healthcare.
According to a new preprint study led by researchers at the Yale School of Public Health, a single-payer universal health care system could:

➡️ Cover every American
➡️ Save more than 100,000 lives a year
➡️ Cost $1 trillion less than the system it would replace

What exactly can an executive order mean if it cannot be fulfilled? There are no separate measles, mumps, and rubella vaccines. We cannot separate out the MMR, nor is there any reason to based on large well done studies showing safety and efficacy of the MMR.

But will we be forced to give nothing?
