i'm firmly of the belief that everyone should have a creative hobby. even if you aren't "good" at it. it keeps your critical thinking skills engaged, it reminds you that you're still capable of learning and growing and improving at things, it helps you connect to other people. you gotta make stuff!

One of the ways moving to Finland has been *bizarre* is that it has 3rd places galore. I didn't realize how I haven't seen old people or kids (sans parents) hanging out in groups for ages.

If there's one thing I've learned from working for a corporation it's don't kill yourself for them.
Do an amazing job, but don't do unpaid labour, don't work weekends, don't do overtime late into the night, don't work sick. I will not hurt myself for a company I know doesn't care about me.

I am afraid that manga as an industry is going to go through another bust. Sales have flatlined in Japan, so the only growth market they see now is in English language markets.
Publishers are all desperate to push sales there, and are most likely going to flood the market beyond capacity.
