Leaving, at last.

Front seat on the top deck for the bus home!

A friend has visited and entertained husband with rock climbing talk. He also brought two pieces of his wife's birthday cake, with spoons. I decanted mine into husband's pudding bowl. The spoon was definitely needed.

Troughing into food in a very satisfactory manner, and handling his knife and fork properly again.

When you visit your optician (@eyeyeopticians.bsky.social ) and they ask about health/medication changes. So you tell them about being diagnosed with ADHD and trying medication for it, and their response is along the lines of "well I did wonder, but I didn't feel it was appropriate to say anything"!

Yesterday the Marshians were scything and stomping.

The safety briefing didn't include that if a bullrush head lands on your head, it's surprisingly dense!

My first ever attempt at scything: hard work but very satisfying.

This afternoon we took our bikes to the park and practiced big astronaut steps on our bikes. Then we went on the seesaw and the roundabout, and then on our bikes again. Our gliding is coming along nicely when we remember to keep our bottom on the saddle.

I think it's just NYP being naff about publishing details (they're definitely in the process of catching up with other forces).

When I arrived back in Sheffield, the right wing protest and counter-protest had finished and most people had left. I saw this lad and his mum, and asked if I could take a photo of their excellent placard. His mum told me that he'd wanted to go today. Good lad!

Particularly pleased to have a bike from a Yorkshire company. The Yorkshire rose is a nice touch.

New bike day!

Isn't she pretty! The dark blue paint is sparkly!

First 10 miles ridden from Starbeck to Weeton (for train to Leeds).

Feels much more comfortable than the Bombtrack: less twitchy. Might need to swap the stem for something with more rise, but other than that she's good.

I'm selling my hybrid bike. It's a 2020 Trek FX 3 women's size medium

It's had a few modifications:
a bit more of a riser bar;
a shorter stem (although I still have the longer one if you want to swap it back);
Ergon cork grips with bar ends;
Stamp pedals;
rear rack;
Selle Diva gel saddle;

Guess what this queuing driver was doing?

Tyres swapped to Terravail Washburns: can swap back to the original unused WTB Ranger TCS Light Fast tyres if you prefer.

Will not have a saddle, but can put one on for a test ride.

Very good condition.

Here's the uncropped photo showing exactly that: 4 people in bikes compared to 4 people in cars. Roughly a 1:10 ratio of space occupancy.

Anecdotally, I think there are more people cycling in Sheffield, including more people (particularly families) using cargo bikes.

A quick snap from this morning: just 4 of the many people on bikes that I saw.

Bikes bikes bikes!

(and some scooters)

This isn't even all of them.

50 people used the organised bike bus to travel to this community event, and more came separately.

But apparently nobody cycles in Sheffield because it's too hilly.

As I was near-ish, I made a small diversion to Lembas to stock up on laundry liquid and a few other bits.

5 litres of laundry liquid in 1 pannier, and all the rest in the other. E-bike to help get it up the hill home.

I wouldn't have done it in the car (too much faffing through queuing traffic).

NHS + Microsoft IT rant. This is on a computer that I use every single day. But every Microsoft application regularly requires me to log in AGAIN, and for some reason I always have to do MFA twice each time, and then it complains that I've had too many verification calls!!!
